not responding--not using McAfee

During the day when using Thunderbird it seems to lock up and the "not responding" notice pops up.

It happens when an email is being sent, when trying to open an email, and if one is coming in while I am trying to open an email. Does not always happen, but far too frequently.

I have read the other emails about this. I do not have McAfee. I am using AVG and turned off the email scan.

I have updated Thunderbird, but still having the issue.

Not McAfee, at least you can Google :)

I do not think the email scan is the issue. More likely that AVG is trying to scan thunderbird profile folders while your using them as well that a fight ensues.

I suggest you try an exclusion in AVG for your Thunderbird profile folder

It seems it is something else.

I tried the exclusion option and it is still locking up.

I tried detaching a file, and just now clicking on an email to open it and locked up with the "no responding" issue.

The system also just stops when I am typing up an email, or replying to an email.

I have looked at the Task Manager during this time of no response and it does not really look any different then when not using Thunderbird.

Have you rebooted since setting it up? most things anti virus do not take effect unless you restart.

Yes, the system has been restarted.

Still have the problem.
