Problem solved, I didn't actually know there was 2 address book and i was able to delete a rogue address and all his friends. One more think I like to ask, something I asked before and wasn't resolved.

Why is that sometime writing an e mail the font will change into very small font and even after correcting it sending out the e mail the recipient will read the e mail half font 14 and some font 8?

So far no one came up with an answer. Thanks Ed

If you are referring to the address bar in Firefox, and not Thunderbird:

When you begin typing, and the list of addresses appear, hover your mouse cursor over an address you would like to remove and press the "Delete" key on your keyboard.

I'm referring to the e mail in Thunderbird. If I start typing the addressee in the address bar after the first letter other peoples address will poop up as well. Fallowing your method highlighting the one I don't want and pressing the Delete key it won't delete that address. I made a screenshot of it and tried to put it here but it won't upload here for some reason.

Click on history and then clear recent history

Choose the appropriate option and click clear now button

You will not see the address in address bar any more

KhalidXpert

Click on Tools > Option and in Privacy Tab and click on clear your recent history

There's no Privacy Tab anywhere, why can't I see it? I tried to put a picture here but apparently a screenshot taken in Thunderbird cannot be posted here.

Cant you see window like this ? see atachment

When I open my e mail provider it says Thunderbird. The picture you provided is not the same as Thunderbird. Finally I was able to upload a picture so you can compare it. Could it be that you have Firefox and I have Thunderbird and are they not the same thing? I'm getting more confused by the minute. I really appreciate you're trying to help me but perhaps we are on different tracks. Ed Edit: I just realized that I do have Thunderbird and you have Firefox by looking the picture I pasted on. What is the difference?

Both applications are made by Mozilla. Thunderbird is the email application and Firefox is the Web browser application.

In the future, I suggest posting Thunderbird email questions to the Thunderbird forums: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/thunderbird/get-community-support

You begin typing an address and the auto-complete feature offers addresses that you would like to remove. Go to the Thunderbird Home screen and select Address Book at the top.

Then select Collected Addresses on the left-hand side. Select the address you would like to remove and then click on Delete. Also check the Personal Address Book to make sure the address you want to remove is not listed there too.

I'm sorry I made it clear in my first reply I have Thunderbird. The method you just described I knew that already. When I go to the Address Book the e mail address I wan't to delete is not there.

When I start typing the addressee after the first letter it will appear in the address bar but so will other people. My addressee is highlighted, then I put the cursor over the one I don't want and it also becomes highlighted.I press delete but the persons email address I wan't to delete won't be deleted. Now that is not really a problem but an annoyance I can't overcome. I used to have another e mail provider before and I had no problem deleting anyone but not in Thunderbird. I thought if I ask somebody might be able to tell me how. Like on the picture I wan't to get rid of graboid but it hangs around like a bad smell.

Moving this thread to the Thunderbird product queue.

All contact suggestions come from one of your address books. By default you have two. The Personal and the Collected books.

If you cannot find them in one of your address books it was probably saved without the name or other info.

The next time a rogue address appears, go a head and make the email and save it to drafts. When you view it in Drafts you will see the contact in the Message Pane. Double click the contact to open the edit dialog box and use the delete button there to remove the old address.

No Message Pane showing? Press F8.

FYI, Thunderbird is not an email provider. It is email client software. Email providers issue email addresses and have email servers. Email client software installs and runs on your computer and helps you connect to those servers and manage your email.
