I should mention that I am also unable to use the 'open in new tab' function when I rt-click a link on a web page.

I am running Firefox 32.0.3 on a Window 7 Professional, 64bit.

These problems began when I updated to 32.0.3

Thanks for your help.

Will Firefox work normally if you start up in its Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • tap the Alt key to activate the menu bar > Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox to get the Safe Mode/Reset dialog. Choose "Start in Safe Mode".

Any difference?

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.
