Will the new Firefox Quantum browser change my current Firefox browser settings & home page

I've read the questions from other users of Mozilla's Firefox browser if they download the new Quantum browser but I'm more confused after reading answers from other users. I've no idea what Quantum Beta is or what a portable version of Firefox Beta is. All I want to know is "if I download the new Firefox Quantum what happens to my current Firefox browser settings?" Does Quantum change all the current settings and home page? I've used computers for a while now but I'm obviously still a novice. Hope someone can put me right.
