I have two pcs that use the integration of google calendar with Lightening in Thunderbird, but on one there is no such option to add a google calendar - even after uninstalling Lightening and reinstalling. Can you suggest another way to add a google calendar?

I am guessing one uses the provider for google calendar add-on. But you can use the google calendar with the caldav protocol, just you do not get tasks with caldav
