Where is location bar?

This is quite ridiculous. Via Firefox Help I read about all of these bars:

Address bar Awesome bar Favorites bar Firefox Toolbar Location bar Menu bar Search bar

How/where do I find out what in God's name these are? Is there a typical Firefox page diagram showing the location of these bars?

Please advise, else I shall have to visit a proper Bar to drown my sorrows.

Fortunately, there are only five bars. The normal order is:

  • Title bar (optional)
  • Menu bar (optional)
  • Tabs bar
  • Navigation toolbar
  • Bookmarks toolbar (optional)

The main "navigation" toolbar has a box that shows the URL of the current page. That box is the address/location/awesome bar which you can use to enter another address or search.

Firefox doesn't use the term "Favorites" but that probably refers to the Bookmarks toolbar.

Note that you are using an obsolete version of Firefox (if the system information next to your post is correct), so the help articles may no longer be applicable to yours.

The Search bar is a small box you can add to the main toolbar which is purely for the purpose of sending searches to search sites. Before Firefox 56, you can add the Search bar to your main toolbar by dragging it from the Customize tab.

You can use any of these methods to show the toolbar list and select the desired bars there:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button)
  • (menu bar) View > Toolbars
On Windows, tap the Alt key to activate the menu bar temporarily.
  • in Customize mode > Toolbars button (see: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars)

To turn on the Bookmarks Toolbar or Menu Bar, click it on the list.

Hello Cordwainer,

In addition to the above :

In the header of your post you ask "Where is location bar? " .....

The "Location bar" is also called "Address Bar" or "URL Bar".

See : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Address_bar

There's no stinkin favorites in Firefox. As with almost all web browsers, save for IE, they are called Bookmarks.

Location Bar is also known as URL Bar or Address Bar, located on the Navigation Toolbar which is also where the Search Bar is located.

Yes that can be confusing for new users, but as jscher2000 linked the Customize feature can be used to move both the Location Bar and / or the Search Bar to a different toolbar. And also move a lot more around the "bars" area at the top of the browser window. And if you screw up your customization there is a button in Customize to "Restore Defaults" and start all over again with your customizations.

In addition to my first post :

I forgot that you also mentioned the "Awesome Bar" .....

The "Address bar" displays a page's web address (URL). It's also called the "Awesome Bar" because it remembers the pages you’ve visited before and also allows you to search and navigate the web.
