Can't "Restore Default Search Engines" or add Google as a search engine

Trying to add Google as a search engine option and set it as default. I can do neither. I can't "Restore Default Search Engines" because the box is grayed out, and I can't add Google as a search engine because it doesn't give me the little "+ add search engine" option for that like it does for, say, Stackoverflow.

How can I add vanilla Google search default?

Thanks!

Firefox should come with Google as an enabled search engine.

Try to rename/remove search.json.mozlz4 in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Hi Tim, if that doesn't help, could you take a look at an internal page listing active policies. To open that, type or page about:policies in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it. Normally if you don't have an IT department managing your Firefox, it will say "The Enterprise Policies service is inactive." Does yours indicate any active policies?

What search engines do you see in "Options/Preferences -> Search" ?
