When searching within a web page using CTRL-F, as soon as you type enough characters that don't match anything in the page, as in string not found, it makes a loud annoying sound much like Win98 booting. How DO I TURN THAT OFF?

Could you try this:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste sound and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the accessibility.typeaheadfind.enablesound preference to switch the value from true to false

Does that silence it on yours?

More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox.

Thank you! My searches kept referring to opening FF in safe mode and mac/ubuntu specific solutions at the top. I did see "accessibility.typeaheadfind.enablesound" a few times but they were always missing the about:config part!
