I think there was an update to my browser today. Now I can't sign into my Google gmail or Google main account because I think Firefox is trying to use a two-step verification that I set-up with the Titan Security key. I deleted this security key from my main Google account months ago, yet it keeps trying to use it but does not recognize the key now. I tried the other secondary method and just end up at the same verification window again, (screenshot attached). I can open gmail in Chrome browser no problem and I have verified the the Titan Key is removed from my account as a secondary verification, so I believe the problem is in Firefox browser. Any suggestions?

What do you have here? see screenshot

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear

If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder that stores the cookies got corrupted.

  • rename/remove cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and when present delete cookies.sqlite-shm and cookies.sqlite-wal in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Deleting the Cache and cookies didn't work, so moving to the next step. However when I did a search for cookies.sqlite. I have several with the newest being the 21st of this month (latest update). My question is; Instead of deleting/replacing the current profile and renaming it old, can I just restore the profile from 1/14/20, which is when everything was working right? or replace the current one with the 1/14/20?
