Have been getting error msg's / site blocked for clearly legit sites I have gone to in past. Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue

"Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to mybell.bell.ca because this website requires a secure connection. What can you do about it? mybell.bell.ca has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site. The issue is most likely with the website, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it."

Also, financial inst website. There seems to be no way around blockage, which is, no doubt, technically the fault of the site owner . . .nonetheless, I find I am having to use MS Edge more and more often!

This can also be caused by security software that intercepts the connection and sends its own certificate to Firefox or by using a VPN or proxy to connect.

You can check the connection settings.

  • Options/Preferences -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":
