Dear Sir,

I am desparated with connecting my office account with custom domain milosz@mrozowski.art to thunderbird. I can not send messages. It is always mistake smtp.office365.com "Sending a message failed. An error occurred while sending a message: failed to authenticate with "smtp.office365.com" outgoing mail server (SMTP). Please check the password and authentication method in Outgoing Mail in Account Configuration."

My ports for Microsoft accunt to thunderbird are defined properly (proof in atachment).

From microsoft they said that I need to turn off modern authentication. I did that.

I can recive messages, I can not only send them from thunderbird. When I logg to my mail account it works, but the problem is on mozilla thundebird level.

I am wondering about the source. Please help me, You are my only hope. I was connecting to godaddy support and they said me that the source must be in thunderbird or microsoft. Please help, I will be so much grateful.

If You suspect what is wrong, like other possibilities on side of microsoft outlook (all administration settings) tell me please all aspects, what I need to do. If it on Your side, also I will be gratefull for all advices, because I am losing hope what to do with that case.

The situation is that - I bought custom domain on godaddy, then add to my business outlook account, I defined everything properly with ports to thunderbird, and I can not send messages (always the same mistake "smtp.office365.com")...

I am aslo wondering because main main administration account is Milosz@Mrozowskiviolin.onmicrosoft.com and my milosz@mrozowski.art is subbmail account with no so power administration. I need to have all the same premissions and power like in main account? Which one are most important? I am thinking loudly about the source...

Best regards, Milo

No guarantee this will solve all the issues with O365 accounts, which seem to affect many users, but I would start by changing the authentication method on the incoming and outgoing to OAuth2.

https://office365.mcmaster.ca/reconfigure-mozilla-thunderbird-for-modern-authentication/

So in microsoft office administration centre I have to have settings on, connected to modern authentication? This is the ONLY way?

I'll give You also screenshots from microsoft office administration centre to ensure that there everything is alright (maybe there is need to unclick sth.), and then screen shots form my thunderbird. It is sometimes something very small but it can make a problem, so I will be very grateful for Your feedback.

And here (down) I shoud write down my microsoft account ID (is it some serial number or something other? Where I can find it?) not my email milosz@mrozowski.art?

User Name: <your_MacID>@mcmaster.ca

Best regards, Milo

For Office365 accounts on a custom domain, OAuth2 is the required authentication. You may also have to have IMAP and SMTP enabled in the O365 settings. If they aren't enabled, there is an add-on, Owl, for accessing the account in TB.

The User Name is the email address; the mcmaster page was cited only as an example.
