Hello,

In order to better assist you with your issue please provide us with a screenshot. If you need help to create a screenshot, please see How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box. This will help us to visualize the problem.

Thank you!

[v56+] Type about:preferences#general<enter> in the address box. Under fonts and colors, press the Advanced button. Scroll to the bottom, turn on Allow Web Sites To Choose Their Own.

Make sure you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the OS settings.

  • We have seen reports that this can be caused by a problem with fonts like Roboto or Helvetica that

you have installed locally and that might be corrupted or are missing some variants. Also, make sure you allow pages to choose their own fonts and that you do not block remote (downloadable) fonts.

  • If you use uBlock Origin make sure not to "block remote fonts".

Hi, can you share an example of what that looks like? The following article has tips on capturing screenshots: How do I create a screenshot of my problem? Please crop out/cut out/blur any sensitive information in the image file before attaching it to your reply.

I did the screenshot when the screen had the special characters. When I pasted the screenshot the special characters were replaced by actual text. Also when I select the words with special characters, they change back to actual.

Also when first displayed, the text is actual, then it changes to special characters just moving the cursor.

Any ideas?

Thank you

It's very puzzling. If copy/paste isn't working, you could try:

Call up the built-in screenshot tool using either right-click > Take Screenshot or press Ctrl+Shift+S. Then use your mouse to select the area that has the problem, then click Download to save the file instead of using Copy.

If you view the downloaded file, does it have the odd characters, or are they somehow getting corrected that way as well?

Also when first displayed, the text is actual, then it changes to special characters just moving the cursor.

Sometimes when you mouse over text its style changes, for example, text might change from regular to bold, and highlighting might be added or colors changed. There are many possibilities, so it's difficult to guess what is happening on a specific page.

Do you see the problem on this site, or is it limited to particular sites? If you want to share a URL of a page with the problem, please "break" the link by typing a space before the .com or .org. If the forum software doesn't recognize it as a link, then your reply won't have to spend time in the link spam review queue.

You can right-click and select "Inspect" to open the built-in Inspector with this element selected.

You can check in the Rules tab in the right panel in the Inspector what font-family is used for selected text. You can check in the Font tab in the right panel in the Inspector what font is actually used because Firefox might be using a different font than specified by the website.
