Fix what caused the problem in 102.4.2...

The update to 102.4.2 restored the problem of Tbird freezing when retrieving emails . It first apeared with the update to 102.2.2 and I fixed it by rolling back to 102.0.1 . Later it was fixed, I think in 102.4.0. Will try rolling back to 102.4.1.

Using 102.4.2...

Please start *Windows'* in safe mode with networking enabled

win10 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

  • Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in Troubleshoot mode

Does problem go away?

In safe mode and tbird trouble shoot mode I got 9 emails then a few minute pause, then the total of 42 emails. This isn't a solution as the display is low res and generates false dislplay bits in safe mode. In trouble shoot mode but not safe mode before that I got 9 emails and then a message " unable to write the email to the mail box" and "check that you have space on disk and permission to write". I have plenty of disk space. Rolled back to 102.4.1 and it seems to work fine.
