If i open firefox and then open a new window or tab in firefox with the same adress, it will close it down. Why would anyone want that function? The reason i open the second tab our window is because i want them open simultaneously of course. Damn that was one annoying feature, it even changes window if i have multiple tabs open and one tab i the same as in the other window, jesus.

There are sites that detect a second window or tab and show an error. However, sites shouldn't be able to close a tab that you opened yourself from the address bar, a bookmark, or a search results page. Sites *might* be able to close tabs for links opened from their site.

If it's not the site:

Firefox doesn't care about duplicate tabs, but maybe you have an add-on that clean up duplicate tabs?

How are you opening this new window? From within Firefox or externally via the Windows taskbar or otherwise (desktop shortcut)?
