I have had some updates loaded recently and now i'm on 3.6.13 and i'm having issues with newwindow popup settings and having to change it every time i start firefox. BUMMER.

The behavior I'm experiencing is that popup windows are opening in a new tab instead of in a new window, this is especially problematic for me because i use many web sites with odd sized popup windows (that I need, not that I want blocked) - Firefox resizes the entire session window.

I have to change browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction every time i start the program via about:config otherwise I'm stuck re-sizing my window after every popup... this was an issue a few releases ago then they fixed, now it's back to being a problem again...

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

cor-el thanks for the suggestion, wasn't sure what safe mode was supposed to do...

What I did do:

In Normal Mode, disable all plugins and all extensions from the add-ons window.

Restarted firefox. Modified browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction in about:config

confirmed my change took effect

closed firefox, confirmed my change was still in effect

only re-enabled the add-on's I need.

So are add-on's overwriting the configs every time I start the app?
