For quite some time now, Yahoo has designed its login form to resist automatic filling.

In another thread, I read about an add-on to edit an existing saved password, but I haven't tried it myself: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/saved-password-editor/

The Yahoo website is using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving and filling the name and password.

You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save names and passwords and other form data.

The bookmarklet solution does not seem to work for Yahoo, I've tried it several times.

I haven't tried the add-on app to manually add login names and passwords; will do that today.

This did the trick, works great but can show passwords to everyone who uses this computer. Since you can add or edit, I think it is best to use it when needed and then disable the add-on. Thanks.

Hi HCM911, if you create a master password (and log out when you're done) then your passwords can't be viewed by others without knowing your master password. More info on this option:

• Use a Primary Password to protect stored logins and passwords
• Reset your Primary Password if you've forgotten it (erases all saved passwords)

I had the same problem. but someone in another forum said to change the automatic sign from off to on. Here how to do it below. BUT RIGHT CLICK in the sign in box on the screen not on the open space on the sign in page!! My sign in name and password are now saved. What the bookmarklet does is switch autocomplete="off" to autocomplete="on" for the username and password fields. Firefox will NOT offer to save a password if autocomplete="off".

Since you only need to do this once to get Firefox to offer to save the password, you could try doing it manually using the Inspect feature.

Right-click the username field and choose Inspect Element (Q). This will call up a pane (or optionally a separate window) where you can view and edit the HTML tag which creates the username field. There you can edit the autocomplete="off" to autocomplete="on" by double-clicking off and typing on and then pressing Enter. I have attached a screen shot.

Then when you log in, Firefox should offer to save your login.

Note: This is addressed to triggering Firefox to save the login. It isn't a solution for Firefox failing to log you in after successfully saving your username and password.
