What happened to the "speed test". Can I get it back?

On previous versions of Firefox there was a "speed test" button under tools that would let you see your present download and upload speeds on the internet. This new and "improved" version doesn't have that capability. Is there a way to install one as an add-on, or is it gone forever?

Are you looking for something like this that is displayed in the status bar?

This is the Extended Statusbar add-on.
