I'm trying to locate the Google cache version of a NY Times web page: http://nyti.ms/1fhfCa3 I'm searching for this quotation from an article which was removed from later editions of the article. The quotation is located in the Google search page: https://www.google.com/search?q=google+cache+for+%22As+a+result+of+the+sanctions%2C+the+regime+in+Iran+is+under+real+pressure%2C+and+Rouhani+comes+to+save+the+regime%E2%80%9D+Mr.+Javedanfar+told+Israel+Radio.+%E2%80%9CIf+Rouhani+does+the+work%2C+this+is+good+for+Israel.+If+the+Iranians+do+the+job%2C+our+pilots+and+soldiers+don%E2%80%99t+have+to.%E2%80%9D&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#q=%22As+a+result+of+the+sanctions%2C+the+regime+in+Iran+is+under+real+pressure%2C+and+Rouhani+comes+to+save+the+regime%E2%80%9D+Mr.+Javedanfar+told+Israel+Radio.+%E2%80%9CIf+Rouhani+does+the+work%2C+this+is+good+for+Israel.+If+the+Iranians+do+the+job%2C+our+pilots+and+soldiers+don%E2%80%99t+have+to.%E2%80%9D&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial But I don't see any options on this page allowing me to find the cached version of the page. Any suggestions how to find this? I tried this plugin hoping it would find the cached page, but it didn't: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/web-cache-view-plus/

It's extremely unlikely that you'll be able to find a cached version of any page on nytimes.com. The web page authors specifically request that search engines do not cache their pages by using the following tag in the source code:

  • <meta name="robots" content="noarchive">

Were it any other site,

1. You would need the actual link instead of a redirection link like nyti.ms or bit.ly.

2. https://www.google.com/intl/en/help/features_list.html
To view Google's cached version of a page, click the "Cache" link next to the search result.

You can also use the cache: search operator. For example, searching for cache:en.wikipedia.org will show Google's cached version of the English Wikipedia page. As mentioned above, not all pages are cached by Google.

Alternatives to Google include Bing and the Coral CDN. The Wayback Machine is for pages between 6 and 24 months old.

I made a site, viewcached.com , which aims to make it easy to use the caches from Google, Yahoo, Bing, Wayback Machine, and Coral CDN as mentioned above, and in addition, Gigablast and WebCite. Hope this is helpful.
