Linkbucks loads a page with a numerical web address appearing in the bar when I click say on images within the google search page, it's not limited to one page though. I click the log in link on the instagram homepage and it loads from there as well as quite a few others. I have blocked all permission that I'm able from the site and am hoping this works. Help?

hello onthebackstreets, this sounds like a problem possibly caused by adware/malware on your pc. please go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.

There's a pretty good chance this is caused by one of your add-ons, particularly an extension.

Unfortunately, your "More system details" does not list any plugins or extensions, so it is difficult to suggest the ones that you might want to disable or remove.

On the following tab, disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Hopefully after restarting Firefox, the behavior will have stopped.

For comments on your specific extensions, you can extract a list and post it in a reply. To get the list, open

Help > Troubleshooting Information

and in the upper left corner click the Copy Text to Clipboard button

After pasting, you can delete the "Important Modified Preferences" section.

Also, if you discover this behavior in other browsers, you may have systemwide malware/spyware/adware that needs to be removed through the control panel. Or you can use the tools listed in this article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.

Any luck?

I installed at some time in the past a do not track me extension. I noticed before I disabled it that when I would hover over the log in button on instagram that purchaseviews.net would appear at the bottom of the screen indicating that would be the destination on clicking. I simply disabled and will remove the extension. Thanks very much for your help gentlemen!

Hi onthebackstreets, if you have the full name of that extension and it's on the Add-ons site, you might want to go back to that page and post a bad review for it. :-)
