I am unable to long on to my on-line banking. Both the bank and Trend tell me that is it the fault of Firefox. Firefox is a new browser for me and I have made it my default. This is now my second day of dealing with this problem.

I just shut everything down and rebooted computer. Now I am able to log in to bank. I disabled lots of plug-ins...how do I know which ones to get back.

hello janeginn, could you describe in more detail what's happening and why it's not working (are there any error messages,...)?

I receive no error messages. The bank believes that Firefox is blocking the bank's cookie. I went to the privacy screen and added the web address, checked the boxes, and still not able to long on to bank.

please try to reset firefox and see if this can address the issue...

Hello,

This one may solve your problem Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them

Please reply back to us. Thank You.

No am still unable to log on to bank

which of the suggestions have you tried? could you still describe in more detail what's going on and what exactly you're observing - are you entering your credentials, what's happening then? maybe a link to the login site might be useful as well...

Are you getting a Java is blocked warning on your bank? Why do I have to click to activate plugins?

I have tried everything you all have suggested. I received no warnings saying that java is blocked. I have had the bank verify everything...and still cannot long on. They have reset all they can. I am uncomfortable giving you links to my bank. I never had this problem with Explorer, there must be something you can do???

What's the name of your bank? We'd like to just see the web interface and see if we can see the issue you have (who knows, maybe someone here has the same bank and can try logging in)

hmm, there's nothing particular unusual from what you can see from the login page only that could prevent a login. maybe also first try updating your outdated plugins and go into firefox > addons > plugins and disable all unessential plugins listed there...

How do I know what plugin is unessential?

when i look at the list, probably everything can be disabled, except the few ones that are used to actually display content (shockwave flash, silverlight & java).

I disabled the unessential plugin you suggested and still cannot log on to my bank.

First, update your Adobe PDF reader here:
http://get.adobe.com/reader/

You have a very old version of Adobe PDF Reader so it's good for you to update it. Also there is a useless plugin that will try to install from the Adobe website. It is called "McAfee Security Scan Plus". You do not need it, so uncheck the box under "Optional offer: Yes, install free McAfee Security Scan Plus to check the status of my PC security." Many people miss this so look closely.

McAfee Security Scan Plus on Adobe PDF Reader page:

Click the yellow "Install now" button and download the update. After you have downloaded the update, find it and open it so that the update installs.

Then I would enable ONLY these plug-ins:

  • Shockwave Flash 11.9 r900
  • GEPlugin
  • Unity Player 4.1.5f1
  • DivX Web Player version 2.1.0.900
  • DivX OVS Helper Plug-in
  • Bing Bar
  • RealPlayer(tm) LiveConnect-Enabled Plug-In
  • RealPlayer Download Plugin
  • Picasa plugin
  • Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 12.0
  • The QuickTime Plugin
  • RealNetworks(tm) RealDownloader Chrome Background Extension Plug-In
  • RealNetworks(tm) RealDownloader PepperFlashVideoShim Plug-In
  • RealNetworks(tm) RealDownloader HTML5VideoShim Plug-In
  • RealDownloader Plugin
  • iTunes Detector Plug-in
  • Retrogamer Plugin Stub for 32-bit Windows

Leave everything else disabled as it is either outdated and vulnerable to security exploits or advertising related and not good for your Firefox browser.

You can try basic steps like these in case of issues with web pages:

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
