Cannot "OPEN" attachment from MS Outlook. Firefox will only allow attachment to download and save.

Cannot open attachment. Firefox will only download and save. How can I open attachment without saving? For a while I could see an image of the attachment and could open from the image, but now I do not have an image to open. I do not want to download and save every document sent to me MS Office or pdf. Do not want to resort to IE just to open attachments!

It depends. If the server is sending Firefox a document type that matches a known application, you should be given the option to Open it. If it's an unknown or generic type, you usually will have the option to choose an application by browsing. If it's an executable type, then Firefox will not give you the option to Open, just Save/Cancel.

By the way, I'm assuming you turned on the option to choose your own download locations in the Options dialog. See: Startup, home page, tabs, and download settings.

When the content type is recognized, Firefox usually follows your directions in the Options dialog on the Applications panel. Be patient as the list loads:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Applications

In the search bar above the list, you can enter PDF to filter the list, and then view and modify your setting for PDF downloads. Same for Word.

Any luck?
