How can I add a permanent exception for a NAS drive on my home network?

Hi, I have BT Homehub 5 running a small network and connecting me to the internet. I have my main machine - a Laptop, and other devices connected to the LAN including a Netgear NAS that I use for media storage and backups for my data. I need to manage the NAS through a browser window and as FF is my preferred, I use that, BUT every time I want to login to the NAS I have to add a manual exception. It does not give me the option (greyed out) to add a permanent exception. Is there a way of adding a permanent exception for the NAS IP address? Grateful for your help

Could you copy/paste the Technical Details section of the error page into a reply? That may shed light on why a permanent exception is not possible.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I have started the login and come to the screens in the attached Jpeg - sorry I could not paste into this mail and had to create a doc I could copy into a Jpeg which I hope is readable! I had hoped I could use the "Permanently store this exception checkbox as the NAS is always on the same IP, but it is greyed out. Is there a way I can get a certificate for my NAS so it can be accepted without this Q&A every time? Regards, Robin.

Hmm, two issues: different IP address on the cert, and self-signed.

There might be a way to import the certificate as an "authority" that you trust to sign certificates to resolve the second issue. However, I have never tried that myself. I wonder whether other Netgear users might have posted their solution somewhere?

Hi Thanks for that. I will go onto the Netgear/NAS support site and see if they can help with a certificate or why there is an IP address change. It may be the NAS IP and my laptop IP? Don't know but I will ask Netgear. Thanks, but don't waste more time thinking as I only need it every once in a while and I can cope with the occasional hassle!! :-) Regards Robin.
