Firefox will not start in Windows 10
Hello, This problem occurs on two different systems that I recently upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10. firefox.exe briefly appears in task manager then immediately disappears when I attempt to launch Nothing else occurs onscreen, except for a brief small rotating indicator (modern hourglass thing). I've tried Win8 and Win7 compatibility mode and running as an Administrator. i've tried an uninstall and reinstall of version 42 and then 43.0b4 (beta). I've also tried the above deleting firefox appdata and program file folder after uninstalling and before reinstalling. Holding down shift key while launching or firefox /safe in Run does not work. Firefox DOES launch successfully in windows safe mode. My firewall is Kaspersky 2016 version 16.0.0.164(c) and I've verified that firefox is not being blocked and has full priveleges. I had the same problem launching with chrome, but installing chrome canary (their beta) does launch OK. Opera, Maxthon, and IE/Edge, and now Canary Chrome browsers all launch fine.

If it works in Windows Safe mode then some Windows component or third-party application must be causing this issue.
Did you try to remove Firefox from Kaspersky?
It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Thanks! You pointed me in the right direction. The problem was an outdated Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit program. For anyone else interested here's the discussion from Kaspersky's forum: "Firefox & Chrome won't start" http://forum.kaspersky.com/lofiversion/index.php/t337294.html
