I recently reinstalled firefox 43.0.4 but under show all bookmarks there are several copies of the bookmarks folders. I can't delete any of the excess and they all seem to contain the same folders and bookmarks. For example I have 14 copies of history showing.

Please follow these steps to reset your device back to factory settings:

Warning: Resetting your phone will delete all data stored on the device, including apps, calendar data, email accounts, and settings.

  1. Open the Settings App (small) Settings application.
  2. Tap on the Device Information button.
  3. Tap on the More Information button.
  4. Tap on the Reset phone button.
  5. Tap OK to reset your device.

It is my desktop firefox not my tablet or phone having this issue.

You show Places Maintenance is being installed on the Firefox you posted here with, that should have fixed that type of data corruption / duplication.

And if you are using Sync, disconnect from Sync before trying to fix that issue.

And if you are running Firefox for Android or Firefox for iOS on the tablet or phone, and are using Sync with them' that may be where that corrption started, IMO.
