Thunderbird doesn't allow me to send pictures

I look at my pictures and ask to send one. The program allows me to put an address in and click send. It's just that nothing is sent, no record in my emails. Sometimes it doesn't even allow me to put in an address. This never happened with Outlook Express. I now have Windows 10 and that came with Mozilla Thunderbird. HELP
