I followed directions on how to import bookmarks from IE to Firefox, but it didn't work. Bookmarks aren't there.

I followed the directions on how to import my bookmarks from Yahoo on IE to Yahoo on Firefox, but I don't see the bookmarks there or see (unless I'm not looking in the right place) the folder From Internet Explorer. Can you help me with this?

Thank you!

Could you call up Firefox's Library dialog to check a couple things? Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+b
  • Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks

Normally Firefox will display the contents of "Other Bookmarks" which may contain an Imported Bookmarks folder. (It probably will have a general named like Imported Bookmarks rather than Yahoo Bookmarks; you can rename it if you like.)

If it's not there, in the left column, click Bookmarks Menu and look for an Imported Bookmarks folder.

Can you find it anywhere?

This dialog also is the easiest place to drag/crop or cut/paste bookmarks from a folder to a higher level of the menu.

Um, maybe I misunderstood. If you want to import Yahoo bookmarks that used to appear on the Yahoo toolbar, you may need to first export those from Yahoo before you can import them. This page has the link:

https://us.data.toolbar.yahoo.com/v1/bm/tools?.intl=us

Then: Import Bookmarks from an HTML file
