does installing Thunderbird update Eudora OSE

I have been using Eudora email since my first PC 20 years ago. I have been reluctant to change but I did upgrade to Eudora OSE a few years back.

Recently, I have been having annoying pop ups regarding certificate errors; doesn't prevent opening the email, just gets annoying.

I thought that I might try Thunderbird so I downloaded and installed it. It opened with all of my info and history of emails dating back to 1996!

When I went back to Eudora, I have noticed that some of the tweaks that I made in Thunderbird (what columns are displayed) are now also in Eudora!

Also, the certificate errors are gone from the emails that would give them.

Would installing Thunderbird have updated Eudora?

Thanks.

Eudora OSE is Thunderbird, with the Penelope add-on.

SO what you are really talking about is Thunderbird Version 3 and the current version. Both will use the same profile folder, although as you have demonstrated they will install separately

As Qualcomm never released a new version of the add-on, it died on that single release as it required Binary compatibility with Thunderbird to function. All it needed was to be recompiled to work on later versions.
