An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Authentication is required to send mail as <mphansen@bellaliant.net> . Please verify your email address is correct in your mail preferences and send again.

I have gone through my email setup and I cannot see where is any mistakes so don't know how verify my email address. Any place in mail preferences that calls for an email address I have checked and it is correct.

Help appreciated.

You are not sending an authenticated account hence the message.

this means you are not sending a password, so you are getting the pop up Authentication Failed error.

  • Right click on mail account in Folder pane and select 'Settings'
  • Bottom Left - select 'Outgoing server (SMTP)'

on the right you will see a list of your outgoing servers.

  • select the smtp server
  • click on 'Edit'
  • Authentication method: select 'Normal Password'
  • click on all 'OK's
