Ant Video downloads: 0bytes...
Greetings:
After a new installation of my system, I installed Firefox with And Video Downloader. Went to Youtube, opened a song, press the wanted download form (MP4), it shows DOWNLOADED, and "it did". That is, it made a file [songname].MP4, but the bloody file is EMPTY. Tried few other songs (as some seem impossible to be downloaded, maybe protected in some way?), but all give the same result: empty file.
Anyone a clue what this could be, please?
Thank you, Xog

FF is a browser not the downloading program. What is the link so others with that plugin see if they get the same problem.
Hello Xogroroth,
Would you please ask the developer of Ant Video Downloader ?
YouTube makes ǒnstant changes to its code and extensions need an update to get on track again.
Thank you.
And my apologies: the search in google for AVD brought me here... I thought this site therefor was used by AVD for support, as well.
Xog.

Absolutely no need to apologize !
Totally understandable - most people who use add-ons from the AMO site and encounter problems, post their question on this support forum.
Yes, this site comes up among the first when asking for an Ant Video Forum in Google. I believe, it does for other add-ons as well...
Hmmm, might be an idea to bring them in here as well, all under one Umbrella Corpo... eeeeh, roof. :P

I can see why you think that would be a good idea, but : add-ons are developed by third parties and not by Mozilla (Mozilla merely 'hosts' them). The only ones who can answer questions pertaining to add-ons are the developers. This support forum is for "Firefox issues".
I hope this explains why we tell you to contact the add-on's developer ......
Well, since you host them, good Sir, it might be an idea to create a sub-directory called Mozilla Add-On Support, with again sub-directories like Ant Video Downloader, Downloadbar, Addblock Plus, so all gets their support where they get their files/add-ons?
Merely thinking out here, but I think many an add-on creator would actually love this feat.
Not to mention... the users!
It would simply be a logical move, Sir, since, yes, when looking for add-on support, we ARE pointed right HERE, oddly. Since the search engine seems to believe this is already as I suggest, well...
Please do understand, I am NOT trying to force anything, this is a suggestion, an idea, or better even, a motivation/explanation as to why it could/would be an actual good idea, nothing else.
In the end, "we all" try to sort out all what we can find on the internet, into nice, neat packages where everything is easy to be found. Youtube for one is a perfect example of this movement, where users create type-based playlists.
Still, feel free to completely ignore this, if you feel it would be not a good idea... :)
And... thank you very much for all answers, everybody. Greatly appreciated. Xog.
Even though I like the way you're thinking - there's something you should know :
The people who answer questions here are (for the main part) volunteers, users just like you, who are trying to help other users in their spare time.
We volunteers can't make any changes - but you could submit your ideas/suggestions here :
https://qsurvey.mozilla.com/s3/FirefoxInput/
Worth a try ......
You mentioned "Mozilla Add-on Support" - there is :
https://discourse.mozilla.org/c/add-ons
But it will be used by add-on developers mainly.
And you just learned a few more things (I hope .... )
Oh, no, what I meant was, to invite the add-on makers here in the sub-forum Add-Ons, and have them do their thing for support. Not to put more work here for the people already here.
If we could invite the creators (and their possible staff), we would have an actual umbrella system where all Mozilla based creators are centralised.
It would be illogical to have the people here that are 'actual pure Mozilla' support becoming add-on support, where most of the add-ons already do support, just on different locations.
If we could centralise these locations here... well... that would be, as some would say, "the max".
Right?
So, should the Mozilla.Org gods agree, we could send an 'official invitation' to the makers asking them to move here.
Again, merely an idea, Sir. ;)
On the other hand, do I understand you correctly, that you mean for me to post this to a specific individual here on the site? If so, whom should I write to? And, eh... how? lol I am new here, no idea on how to send a PM, if this would be the way to go.
Thank you very much, Sir. Xog.
EDIT: Sorry, i replied ahead of everything, based on the first line you wrote... My sincere apologies. I tend to be a bit impulsive... happens rarely, but it happens...
You answered the question as to where to post it, so, i will.
Again, thank you, and apologies.

Absolutely no apologies needed ! :)
As per told, Sir, I wrote the idea to the given feedback/suggestions link.
Thank you.
Hi, did you go to their Website and download and install the 2nd part of the program ?
Also by the way all scanners will find ANT as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program and want to delete or Quarantine it.
Would suggest you find something else.
Well it was installed, not detected.
Now, I am from Belgium, and earlier (somewhere tonight) the issue oddly fixed itself when i was sleeping...
Maybe an update to AVD? Didin't pay attention as Firefox started, whether it installed a newer version or not...
Thank you all, most appreciated. :)
