Login to server imap.googlemail.com failed
changed password and now login fails. One account works fine, But the other fails with the same settings. Any hint would be helpful.

Did you delete the old password from Tools/Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, restart TB, and enter the new one when prompted?
If the authentication on the IMAP account is OAuth2, there will also be an oauth:// token in Saved Passwords.
I deleted the old password, restarted TB, typed in the new password (which works when logging into gmail on web) but still got the error message: Login to server imap.googlemail.com with username saklaspaa@gmail.com failed
