NEW UI - PC =/= TOUCHSCREEN, MOZILLA WAKE UP

The Firefox Community here has tried to be very helpful with all the users who hate the changes in Version 89/90, but we need Mozilla/Firefox to hear us.

CSS work-arounds are fine for the IT-literate, which I am not. They are also only temporary. We have no indication that FF is even paying attention to our complaints.

They need to understand that some users have a keyboard and mouse attached to a PC, not a touchscreen like on a pad or phone. It looks like FF wants to cater to touchscreens. This DOES NOT WORK for PC users.

I suggest one UI for touchscreens and a different one for PCs. IIRC, there is a FF version for Windows AND a different one for Apple; why not do the same?

Nobody seems to have any response other than "use this CSS fix." I've also been directed to "clean up the help platform myself" - huh?

Can we please get SOME kind of response from the platform itself? Or are they just trying to get rid of all users without touchscreens?

Hi,

We appreciate your feedback on the recently redesigned Firefox browser.

We set out in 2021 to reimagine Firefox's design to be fast, modern and inviting. With the latest 89 release, we’re bringing you a modern new look designed to streamline and calm things down so you have a fresh new web experience every time you use Firefox.

Is there anything in particular that you would like to see improved or fixed?

YESSSSSSS!

I want an option in Customize to revert the look and spacing back to Version 88. Firefox was ALREADY "fast, modern and inviting."

The LAST thing I want is "a fresh new web experience every time you use Firefox." Seriously? I want a browser that acts the same today as it did yesterday. You didn't "calm things down:" you raised the blood pressure of many of your users.

I want my bookmarks to fit on one screen, not three. I like the type condensed. I want LESS scrolling and mouse-work. Please re-read what I wrote about touchscreens.

Hi,

Starting in Firefox 89, Compact Mode is no longer supported. If you've been using Compact Mode on a previous version, you should be able to retain the feature. However, for the best experience, we encourage you to use the default Density setting.

If you are an advanced user, it's still possible to activate it in the Configuration Editor (about:config page).

  1. Type about:config in the address bar and press Return. A warning page may appear. Click Accept the Risk and Continue to go to the about:config page.
  2. Find the browser.compactmode.show preference.
  3. Switch the toggle to true and then close the tab.
  4. Click on the menu button The image "fx89menuButton" does not exist. to open the menu panel.
  5. Click More Tools menu.
  6. Choose Customize Toolbar.
  7. At the bottom of the panel, click the Density button.
  8. Choose Compact (not supported) from the menu options.
  9. Click Done.

(sigh) Seburo, I don't think you read my initial post here. I have NOT been using Compact Mode. Version 88 works FINE for me: 89 DOES NOT.

I AM NOT AN ADVANCED USER. As I said in my OP.
