Switch to new tab when opened
When I open a new tab from a web page, how do I get Firefox to switch to it immediately?

I hope that this is what you are looking for: 3-bar menu => Settings => General; under "Tabs": Check "When you open a link, image or media in a new tab, switch to it immediately".
