I have Firefox 106.0.1 SNAP install on Ubuntu Mate 22.04. The default language is Spanish, I added English and Italian dictionaries. When I write I'd like to choose among the three languages for automatic correction, but Firefox only shows Italian and English. Why? How can i fix it?

It seems you need to add a Spanish dictionary.

As I said before, Spanish language is the default language for my system and the Spanish dictionary is installed from the installation. If I try to add it Firefox says that is already installed.

It is possible that you confused dictionary with language pack and that you actually do not have a dictionary installed.

You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages sub menu. At least one dictionary should be installed and have a check mark to indicate that it is selected.

  • open the "Add Dictionaries" link to install a dictionary if you do not have one.

Note that you can select multiple dictionaries in Firefox 100+. The spelling checker is enabled if [X] "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu has a checkmark.

You can enable or disable spell checking globally:

You can look here for dictionaries:

Note that for spell check you need a dictionary. A language pack provides string translations for the user interface.

thank you cor-el, but was not the solution, I know difference between lang pack and dictionary. I just reinstalled Firefox from launchpad PPA and everything works like a charm.
