You can change the appearance by using a theme. The Classic Compact theme appears to be similar to what you are looking for. Another one is Winstripe Classic.

WAIT:

i look deeper so what i have is this:

under addons and themes i have "classic compact 3.6.0"

and

under addons and extensions i have "classic compact options 1.2.1"

so what is the difference between THEME and EXTENSIONS?

and if i use that theme you are right .. sure about the version you suggested but the one i have does give squares "good call" BUT i no like :) as the squares are not individual ... they are connected per say .. like two squares functional in a bigger squares ... i want independent squares like if you choose to use small icons you see how they have a space in them and act independent?

thoughts?

thank you as well for time ...
