This has been an ongoing, intermittent Firefox 4 problem w/two computers. I set homepage using general options tab but eventually something defaults to "open browser at last site visited," even tho command line stilll says "Show my home page." Between that problem and lost bookmarks, I'm ready to go back to 3.6 (again).

Even though you set your home page to a certain page, you would also have to choose When Firefox starts: Show my home page in the first dropdown after getting into Tools > Options > General.

Try about:config set browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo and browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo to 0 and browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash to false

I've had Firefox crashing without letting me know during shutdown and constantly restoring the saved session before.

You'll lose anything you dont manually save though.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).
