New HP desktop circa May '11. From beginning, bookmarks have occasionally been erased when auto Windows update occurred & machine rebooted. Until today, have always been able to go into 'Import & Backup' feature and restore from latest backup date. Today, after auto update & reboot last nite, my bookmarks have been deleted and I cannot restore from any of the backup dates. When a backup date is selected, a prompt occurs that says 'unable to process backup file.' Bookmarks are available in IE, but when attempt made to import from IE nothing happens. I attempted to export IE Favorites to html file & import to Firefox, but no luck. Need help......

Thanks, D Farley

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
