Why is it that none of my bookmarks show up?

When I downloaded the most recent firefox, I was new to mozilla on this computer. So I start using the browser, all fine, except that none of my bookmarks seem to show up anywhere. No matter what tags I use or what names I give it, or where I place it (went in to "Show All Bookmarks" and "Unsorted Bookmarks", nothing). It's strange. Instead what happens is that where a bookmark should be, under "all bookmarks" it says (no title). Under tags it also says (no title), and not a single bookmark has been saved as far as I can tell. I tried re-downloading firefox, but that didn't seem to help. I'm willing to try it again if you guys think it will, I'm just straight out of ideas.
