support.mozilla.org Incorrectly Fails To Register And Respond To Accounts With Valid e-Mail Addresses That Include The '+' Character

Correct e-Mail addresses may include the '+' character before the '@' symbol. This site fails to respond properly to them.

AND, your registration process seems to fail when registering long passwords, but your registration page don't specify any maximum charater length for passwords. New registrants don't have enough information to register sucessfully, and the site fails without alerting them to this problem.

Hi XgxjKvTLmMJr,

I have registered many times with `+` in the email for testing and it works fine. Can you give me more information?

(I am a developer for this site)

I just registered with the email address "rickyrosario+longpass@gmail.com" and a 90 character password and it worked fine.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

It seems to work in safe mode. This seems to implicate an add-on, greasemonkey script, or plugin.
