Firefox contains a virus from your site/s: https://download-installer.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/23.0/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%20Stub%2023.0.exe http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/firefox-26.0a1.en-US.win32.installer.exe https://download-installer.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/23.0/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%20Stub%2023.0.exe http://install.optimuminstaller.com/o/slice_firefox/Mozilla_FireFox_Setup.exe?subid=slice_firefoxADV&filedescription=Mozilla%20FireFox%20Setup&adprovider=slice& I received the following information from the latest version of IE: "This program contains a virus and was deleted".

Try downloading the full offline installer package for Firefox 23.0 here:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html

Firefox Setup 23.0.exe contained a virus and was deleted. Learn more: microsofts ie 10 helps to protect users against viruses. Its your job Mozilla, to find out why your software is identified as a virus.

Hi,

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time, not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. (You'll need to be on the latest version of Firefox to submit feedback). Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

hello, all the downloads from the official mozilla repositories should be clean - please report the wrongly flagged files to your AV-software provider (most of them contain a link in the program or an online form to submit false positives).

Its microsofts lastest version of IE that detects the firefox contains a virus. Its not an independent AV software program!

So tell Microsoft!

Look, in the first posting you made the first three download links that you cited are for the new (for Firefox 23) Setup Stub online installer package which is like 2 weeks old and maybe Microsoft isn't aware that Setup Stub even exists, and they may not even test that specific package. The 4th link is to an unofficial download location; it very well could be contain a virus signature as that download comes from install. optimum. com and not from Mozilla directly

If you had a similar problem with the full, offline setup package from the page that I suggested (a package type that Mozilla has been using for many years), I would say that what was detected was a false positive. and that too needs to be reported to Microsoft.

Mozilla is very careful about providing "clean" installers, without viruses, and no one else has reported a similar problem with any downloads from Mozilla for either set up file, either the "stub" or the full installer. Sorry, but I feel that your problem is with Microsoft "false positive" and as phillip suggested, you should report that to Microsoft.

Ive reported it to Mozilla. Obviously your not getting it. Its not Microsofts problem. If they've detected a virus from a download it will be deleted.

So how do I contact the Mozilla developers? Obviously I cant install Firefox, you should have got that with this thread that "I" have started.

Sorry, the Mozilla Firefox developers don't provide direct contact information. If you already reported your problem to Mozilla, please wait for a response from them.

Beyond that, you can file a Bug Report about your issue. You will get a response from a developer in your Bug Report.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/

Please read this first.

Thank you. I assumed that contacting Mozilla here to report an issue, was contacting Mozilla but it isn't. From your link for bugs, ive found there security contact email which is: security@mozilla.org.

Before you send a reply... Hey guys ive been doing some trouble shooting after the IE link & it looks like my system is infected. Im still in the process of completing my trouble shooting at the moment so ill post it in the next day or too, as ive got work on the weekend.

I have this problem too. I can not fix it.

Hi slipjig, do you have this problem in Internet Explorer as well as Firefox? If so, please see the Microsoft support thread linked in the above post: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/968036#answer-468438. It references a number of different things to check:

  • Infection with a rootkit
  • Conflict between two different versions of AVG or between two different antivirus products

It was only on Firefox. I finally nuked Windows and started reinstalling all my software. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Im about to do the same thing. AVG & Norton didnt resolve the problem. I has able to update firefox to the lastest version from my backup Version 6 of firefox & that didnt resolve the problem. I have over 100gb to transfer to my other computer with a 15gb usb memory stick.
