In trying to get rid of Delta home which had taken over my computer, I decided to uninstall Mozilla and reinstall a newer version. Now I can't find years of saved bookmarks. Is there a way to recover them? And after all that, Delta home opens on new tabs! Help!

You should have done a backup of your bookmarks, first.

Depending upon how old a version of Firefox you were using before, you should search your hard drive for a file named places.sqlite which is the file where Firefox stores bookmarks in modern versions - Firefox 3.0 and later.

As far as your original problem with delta-homes, see this: http://malwaretips.com/blogs/delta-homes-removal/

Thanks. I found 2 files named places.sqlite dating back to November 2013. I can't open them.

They're not meant to be read. Those are old files, so your bookmarks will be old.

With Firefox closed, copy the newest of those files into your current Firefox Profile, replacing the file of the same name. Then start Firefox.
