That page uses numerous third party tracking and advertising providers. You have to allow a lot of that (e.g., turn off tracking protection using the "shield" icon in the address bar if you see that) before the player control bar will even load. Once it loads, you hopefully will be able to play the video by clicking the play button.
If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Ghostery, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.
- make sure that your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version
Thanks but no extensions and no tracking shield, Edge opens it immediately!
Do you get the player control bar floating over the lower part of the black rectangle?
Does your Firefox play the most common HTML5 video formats? A common test page is:
If H.264 is red, please check this article: Fix video and audio problems on Firefox for Windows N editions.
The video you posted above can take a rather long time to load.
I've noticed security error (operation is not secure) in the Web Console that may or may not be related. Such issues can usually be fixed with an allow cookie exception for specific domains or by temporarily enabling all third-party cookies to test what domains are involved.
Solved. The blasted firefox padlock thing in the address bar for safe browsing or something. No way in settings to turn it off, you have to faff around in about:config
I just hate it when a program takes it upon itself to "protect me" especially when the means to turn it off is well hidden and not publicised. I appreciate many users benefit but I'm an old hand and know what I want.
Thanks for the help.

Can you remember what setting you changed? You shouldn't need to turn off any features to view that video in a regular (non-private) window.
In about:config I searched for tracking prevention and disabled it. I also disabled a couple of others that related to tracking but can't remember which.
There is no universal way otherwise to turn this off so Mozilla force it upon us. It also cured instantly my issue with that video.

Tracking Protection is enabled in private windows by default. That setting is managed on the Options/Preferences page, Privacy panel, as described in this article: What happened to Tracking Protection?.
Tracking Protection is disabled in normal windows by default. It can be turned on or off in about:config (privacy.trackingprotection.enabled). I have no idea why yours would have been enabled unless you or one of your add-ons enabled it.
So how is private windows turned on or off by the user from menu options, not about:config please? My FF was a pretty new install last week btw.
If private windows/tracking prevention cause issues with websites isn't there something wrong with that?
Anyway my problem is solved. Thanks to all. :)
When you're in a normal browsing session, you can open a private window using Ctrl+Shift+p or on the menu New Private Window.
There's also a setting on the Privacy panel of the Options page to switch Firefox to automatic private browsing. This appears as "Firefox will: Never remember history."
Thanks. Being pedantic, there is NO setting in Options/Privacy saying anything about 'privacy'! And nothing I can find saying you can use that key combination. Still I don't use privacy so not my problem. Thanks.
