Using Firefox 57.0.2 on Windows10 Pro Creators Update. I place the computer a laptop, into either sleep or hibernation mode. What seems to be a random occurrence the UI elements of Firefox can on some occasions after resuming from sleep or hibernation become unrepsonsive. In other word I can click on any of the extensions I have install nothing happens. Same goes for the hamburger aka 3 horizontal lines for drop down menu. If I click on that item nothing happens. What makes it frustrating is that I can not figure out what is causing it as I have disabled extensions one by one and it may or may not happen.

No this is a Windows issue. I seen where it doesn't come out of hibernation and I am forced to restart sometimes. No sure what has happened to the power features but since using Windows 10 I had these hibernation issues sometimes it's ok and sometimes it's not ok. So I always run another program that I know will keep my computer from going to sleep and then hibernation. That way I know any programs I left running will not get corrupt by the hibernation issue.

In my case its only Firefox that has the issue. None of its user interface responds to key clicks. I can not even open separate windows via other applications.

All I can say is that I am doubting whether I made a right decision of going back to Firefox. Because of this ongoing issue which make Firefox a hit and miss wrt usability. Then comes the bone headed move that Mozilla management did with having everyone automatically opted into Studies and insert the Looking Glass extension.

It may well be Firefox. When you open up from sleep Firefox should be trying to update all the tabs you have open. Depending on your connection this could take a few. It is also writing to other Firefox files in your profile for sessionrestore.

How long are you waiting ?

Well walking away does not do to much. re: lookinglass Though if do not go through your settings when anything updates is ..... Should always go through settings. In this case could turn it off or disable it in 57 if was there. Below is a better option : To submit suggestions for new or changed features, may I suggest: Feedback: https://qsurvey.mozilla.com/s3/FirefoxInput/

Try : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

This issue is occurring 5+ minutes once the resume from sleep or hibernation is initiated. I only notice the issue if I attempt to open a new window say. If that is attempted when the issue exists I wind up with a postage stamp size window rather than a much larger window. The other time I notice the issue is when I need to access the pulldown menu or click on an extension. However all of these events are after the browser and computer has been functioning for at least 5 minutes or more.

I disabled surverys in Firefox via the appropriate option. However since Firefox slipped this via the back door their actions leaves seeds of doubt in their user mind. What else will Mozilla try to pull down the road and can we trust them. Its been 4 days since this has happened and I have yet to see a mea culpa from any Mozila management.

Will try this when I have an hour or two to spare.

That's not the only study. There is I think 3 or 4. Some are security with new tech being built into Firefox. I do not pay attention to them unless have a person working in the area is knowledgeable enough. Also 3/4 of users no have turn send info to Mozilla so 3/4 of the time the I have no info to work with. Version sub number is helpful .1 or .2 as the ram and cpu issue was fixed in 57.0.1 I have to jump through hoops to get answers from people or give them info do not need and then they get T'd.

Graphic Card Drivers, is 3/4 of the issues for people. I can see make model and last time updated and I give the info and the url to update as 3/4's think it works so, and miss years of updates. Dealing with some from 2009 -12 never updated.

When people know it's great when know too much or too little it is not good. A mea culpa you got to be kidding. We said had to be a better way than Force Update everyone.....no..... Dealing with that has been extra fun also.

I am hoping it is just a file and Firefox is choking on it when wakes up. Also as said needs to write about a gig.4 of info.

Problems with Win 10 is that just because you can run it does not mean you should.

Cna also try this : Go the 3 Bar Menu then Options --> General --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please.

Well just did the clean install of Firefox so it may take a couple of days to see if this issue is solved or not. This is because the issue does not always occur on each resume from hibernation/sleep.

If not I will try the Performance options at 2 and see how that goes. Thanks for the help trying to fix this nagging issue.

Sorry to say but the reinstall did not help. When I brought the computer out of hibernation Firefox hamburger menu was unresponsive over 5 minutes after I started using it. I had to close Firefox all together, restart it and log back into all of my accounts.
