winXP, Thunderbird 52.6.0 (32-bit)

Tools, Options, Advanced, Network & Disk Space ... set cache from 350 to zero, click ok. Restart Thunderbird, cache is still 350.

Tested on Linux Mint 18.2, Thunderbird 52.6.0 (64-bit) same behavior.

ps. I set cache to zero so when I backup my profile, I don't want to copy all those cache files that increase the backup file size.

Ah... apparently the size is recalculated. Go to the Config Editor (Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Config Editor > I accept the risk!) and toggle the pref browser.cache.disk.smart_size.enabled to false. Now you can set the cache size to 0 and it won't be recalculated.

The issue is not about the clear button; the issue is that I change the 350 to zero, click OK, restart Thunderbird but it still stays at 350.
