Hello - I am leaving on vacation and have created an 'out of the office reply' on Gmail for my account. Unfortunately, that means for every email sent to me, I am automatically sending a reply and ALL of those are being downloaded to my Thunderbird 'sent' folder. I'd like to prevent the download of sent e-mail temporarily. Is there a way to do this?

BTW - I did create a message filter for them so at least they should be going into a separate folder, but I'd really like to prevent them from downloading when I open Thunderbird upon my return from vacation...

Gmail have full control over where sent emails are auto put. You do not even have to state where they are put because gmail always put them in 'Sent Mail' folder. Your best bet is to logon to webmail account via a browser and move all those emails from 'Sent Mail' into another new suitably named folder for storage or move them to the 'Bin' or whatever the gmail Trash folder is called and then empty the 'Bin/Trash'. This should get them deleted from 'All Mail' as well. Then in thunderbird the 'Sent Mail' folder will synchronise with server, but as those emails have been moved then it will not download them. If you simply never want to see them in Thunderbird, do not subscribe to see the new folder that now hold those emails. If you delete them via webmail and empty the trash before starting Thunderbird, then Thunderbird wil not download them. Thunderbird will download anything left in any folder which you have subscribed to see.
