Hello there!

For a while Firefox has been rendering some websites incorrectly. I don't see any regularity in which ones do and which ones don't. Currently I have 87.0 (64-bit) but it was like that before. Two examples: https://www.dreamstime.com/ and https://www.conrad.de/ The display is a total mess of Latin characters overlaid without character spacing, plus punctuation. I could not find any non-Latin characters. If I copypaste a line from the website, I get normal text again. What is going on? Where can I adjust the character encoding and render settings?

This can happen if the font that is requested is corrupted or otherwise can't be accessed, possibly because the font is under control of a third-party font manager and is located in a non standard location. You can check in Font Book for font issues like corrupted and duplicate fonts.

You can check in the Rules tab in the right panel in the Inspector what font-family is used for selected text. You can check in the Font tab in the right panel in the Inspector what font is actually used because Firefox might be using a different font than specified by the website.

(accidentally marked as solved) Should the rendering in other browsers also be wrong? But it is not.
