Whatever you are doing I recommend you manually back up your bookmarks. It may then make sense to keep such bookmarks on removable media, or maybe somewhere else: another computer, or even as an attachment to an email.

that possibly depends on what you have in mind when saying

If you restore the computer to the state it was in when bought, you will loose your bookmarks; and I imagine an awful lot of other things will also disappear; whilst all sorts of annoying freebies will probably come back.

If you ordinarily reinstall Firefox, but do NOT use the delete personal settings (or however it is worded) option, then Firefox will attempt to retain your bookmarks
