If you hear an echo then this can mean that there are two players active that are playing this file.

You can try to disable other plugins.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

There are other things that need your attention.

Please update the Java plugin because the 6U37 version that you currently use is seriously outdated and has known security vulnerabilities.

I disabled every one of my plugins, one at a time, and each time the problem was still there. That is except for the shockwave flash 11.7.700.169 plugin. When I disabled it, there was nothing. A message came up saying the plugin was missing.

I also updated two plugins that firefox alerted me to.

I am now thinking I may not have accurately described the problem I'm having. The voices sound like the talkers are in a tunnel so that their voices have a ringing quality, instead of just plain voices.

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Well, the Reset Firefox did not solve the problem either. So, I got on Safari and watched a news video. The voices in a tunnel happened there, too! Then I tried it on Google Chrome and there also the voices are in a tunnel!

Now it seems to me that there is some setting for voice replay on my PC that is causing all this, but I am at a loss as to how or where!
