I have had this problem for a while, probably since before FF 24.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Firefox. 2. Close my macbook (locks screen). 3 Open macbook and log in. 4. Go back to Firefox. 5. Open a new tab. 6. Click a bookmark.

What happens is the new tab will not load the page. I have noticed that if I wait a certain amount of time, say ten seconds, and then hit the bookmark, it loads fine. However, if I load the bookmark too early, it somehow can't load the website. Here's the weird thing. I close the tab, and open a new one, and load that page, and it STILL won't load.

My theory is that the network isn't quite in a good state to perform http connections when I first try to load a website. But Firefox is keeping track of open connections, so it won't let me make a NEW connection to the website again until the original request times out. So I am forced to wait for maybe 30 seconds until the site times out. Note that within a few seconds of trying to load the first site, other sites will load fine, but that original site will not load until the first request times out.

Hi skykelsey, A great way to check is to check the option in Preferences > Advanced > Network > How Firefox connects to the internet. You can auto detect a proxy or use the proxy configuration on the computer.

If you can, please also try this on another network to see if it really is network specific. Anytime you wait for 30 seconds, please do not be afraid to use that x or reload button in the url bar. This way you can force the time out.

If this continues to happen, please file a bug with this information as well as the steps you have already reproduced and used in you question:

  1. Open up a web console and load the bookmark and the page. Take note of the times that you do each step and copy and pase the http traffic in the log and add it to the bug.
