our website contains mostly links to fileshares, and they open fine in IE, i realize it is based on firefox having a more secure environment, but the fileshares have their own security - i need the links to work. is it possible?

If you try to manually load the link in either of these ways, will Firefox open it?

  • click and drag the link and drop it on the address bar (and press Enter or click the go arrow if needed)
  • right-click the link > Copy Link Location, and then paste it into the address bar (and press Enter or click the go arrow if needed)

In other words, is the problem purely one of the context -- a link to a file: URL in an http: or https: page (which may be on the same or a different server)?
