Hi, I lost my master password for Firefox and I can't even open the browser now. I've looked at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-your-master-password-if-you-forgot-it, but this doesn't solve my problem since Firefox itself doesn't open. Since it doesn't even open without the password, I can't go into the URL bar and type in chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul.

I have tried uninstalling Firefox entirely using the Synaptic Package Manager, but when I reinstalled it the same message appeared asking for my master password before I could open Firefox.

I'm running Linux Mint 17.1, and I don't know what version of Firefox.

Can anyone help?

Could you try starting Firefox in its Safe Mode? The steps are in our support article (if they do not seem to be Linux-specific, check the Editing Tools column on the left side and change to Linux).
